Description

Statera is an ancient nomadic spiritual religion whose followers do not worship traditional deities, instead they venerate and seek balance with the very forces of nature and the embodiment of harmony in the universe. The Primary tenant of Statera is “Balance in all Things”.

The core belief of the Stateran religion is that all things in the world are interconnected and interdependent, and that the key to a fulfilling life is to find balance within oneself and with the world around them. The followers of Statera strive to live in harmony with nature and to respect the natural balance of the world.

In order to achieve balance and harmony, the Staterans practice a number of spiritual disciplines, including meditation, prayer, and ritual pilgrimages. These practices help them to find balance and understand their place in the world.

The Stateran religion also places a strong emphasis on living a virtuous life and performing good deeds. Followers of the religion are expected to act with kindness, compassion, and fairness towards others, and to strive to create a better world for all.

Followers of Statera practice Syncretism, the acceptance of other religions and the incorporation of some of those beliefs and practices into their own. This often leads to unique and varied traditions and practices from region to region.

The religion has no figureheads or organized churches, however in some places very powerful beings are worshiped as manifestations of the forces of nature who bring balance to the world. These beings are sometimes referred to as demigods, or Yaksh(Ya-k-sh).

Overall, the religion of Statera is one of balance, harmony, and a deep connection to the natural world. It teaches its followers to live in accordance with these tenets and strive for personal and societal harmony.

Clerics of Statera

Clerics of Statera choose two domains that must be in opposition of one another.
Any Statera Cleric worth their salt is branded by the completion of the 1000 Miles of Fire pilgrimage and can use this mark in place of a Holy Symbol.
Clerics of Statera are capable of Channeling both Positive and Negative Energy effectively.
In place of the favored weapon of their deity a Cleric of Statera may choose one Light Weapon to be proficient with.
Clerics of Statera only gain Light armor Proficiency and Shields (except tower shields).

Pilgrimages

1000 Miles of Fire

The 1000 Miles of Fire is a treacherous pilgrimage across the scorching desert sands of Kredes. The route is said to be blessed by the forces of nature, and many people undertake the journey in search of spiritual enlightenment or to fulfill a sacred vow. The journey is perilous, with searing heat, sandstorms, and bandit attacks all posing threats to the pilgrims.

The pilgrimage begins at the oasis of Zalar, located just outside of Ratakia the capital city of Sol Hariq in Kredes. There travelers must gather supplies and seek the blessings of the local priests before setting out into the desert. Pilgrims are expected to endure the entire 1000 mile journey on foot without the aid of a mount or other transport.

The route takes the travelers through several ancient ruins, including the Forgotten city, and the Temple of the Sun, which is guarded by a fierce Red Dragon named Kythoss. Those who make it through the city and past the temple must brave the scorching Dunes of Despair, where many have met their end.

The end of the 1000 Miles of Fire is marked by the holy city of Yatra, a city built upon a powerful Ley Line Convergence and home to the greatest spiritual site in Kredes. It is here that the pilgrims finally complete their journey, receiving the blessings of the priests and the accolades of the people.

Those who complete the journey are marked with the symbol of Statera. This mark is traditionally a brand burned upon the wrists of the pilgrim in a ritual performed by a priest of the holy city Yatra.

The 1000 Miles of Fire is not for the faint of heart, but those who undertake the pilgrimage are said to be forever changed by the experience. It is a journey of endurance, faith, and self-discovery, and one that is greatly revered in the lands of Kredes.
