Chaos Magic is an enigmatic and volatile form of the arcane, in which the caster plumbs the depths of the primordial maelstrom that exists beneath the fabric of the universe. By harnessing this raw and unrefined energy, the caster infuses their spells with unrivaled power. However, this method of casting is akin to taming a storm - the magic unleashed carries with it an element of unpredictability that is inherent to the chaos from which it was drawn.
The potency of Chaos Magic makes it highly desirable, yet its unpredictability poses significant risks. It's an untamed beast of raw magical power, and when harnessed, it can produce results far beyond normal magical means. However, as it draws from the very essence of disorder, the effects can be unstable, and often, uncontrollable. From subtle shifts in spell effects to catastrophic magical anomalies, Chaos Magic is always a gamble, but one that could yield unimaginable power.
Chaotic Aligned Arcane casters gain access to Chaos Magic.
Prerequisite: Chaotic Alignment, Access to Chaos Magic, level 1 Arcane Caster
Benefit: When casting a spell, you can choose to use Zero Point Mana instead of spending your own mana of prepared spell slots.
Zero Point Mana represents the raw, primordial essence of the universe, an unfathomable source of energy that lies beneath the fabric of reality. An arcane caster utilizing Zero Point Mana taps directly into this chaotic source to fuel their spells, bypassing the conventional daily spell slot limitations and mana.
However, the unrestrained power of the universe is not to be trifled with. Each time a caster decides to employ Zero Point Mana to cast a spell without using a spell slot, they must face the potential repercussions of meddling with the chaotic forces that underpin existence itself. A roll must be made on the Zero Point Mana table to determine the unpredictable side effects that the spellcasting will cause.
Note: While the potential rewards of harnessing unlimited magic power can be appealing, the risks associated with Zero Point Mana are substantial.
Prerequisite: Chaotic Alignment, Access to Chaos Magic, level 3 Arcane Caster
Benefit: As a standard action that does not provoke an attack of opportunity, an arcane spellcaster with a Chaotic alignment can channel the raw energy of chaos, affecting all creatures within a 30 ft. radius. Allies within the radius are affected by a random buff, while enemies suffer from a random debuff. Targets are allowed a Will save to negate the effect.
Duration: 1 round/level
Will Save DC: 10 + 1/2 caster level + casting modifier (Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma), Successful save Negates.
Uses per day: This ability can be used 1/day for every 2 Caster levels they posses.
Special: The chaotic nature of this ability makes it unpredictable and at times perilous, even for the caster. The caster flips a coin to determine which table they roll off of. If they end up on the Enemy Effects table they are not allowed a save.
Note: Chaos Channeling represents the unpredictable and ever-changing nature of chaos magic, turning the battlefield into a place of wild magical fluctuations.
